Dinner with a difference!
Guests enjoy Lotthar Matthaus being interviewed by Sky presenter Charlotte Jackson
Delegates enjoy an excellent evening at the International Maritime Museum
Attendees of the Motorship Propulsion & Emissions Conference in Hamburg this week were treated to dinner with a difference, thanks to Castrol’s sponsorship of the 2010 FIFA World Cup
Castrol Marine sponsored the event’s gala dinner and introduced a football theme for the 100 guests that included an appearance by World Cup winning German football legend, Lothar Matthäus.
From entering the room across a special pitch-style green carpet, to the football balloons and football flags marking their table, dinner guests were immersed in Castrol Marine’s football theme. All were welcomed by Castrol Marine’s Global Marketing Communications Manager, Paul Lowther, who outlined the company’s World Cup sponsorship and the key elements of performance that are critical to both the marine industry and football.
Following dinner, Lothar was interviewed in front of guests by TV sports presenter, Charlotte Jackson, and entertained guests with a range of anecdotes from his careers as both player and manager, including his own World Cup experiences. He touched on subjects integral to both Castrol’s business and football; performance, passion, analysis and teamwork, and reflected on his own personal winning performances.
Guests were also invited to submit their own questions for Lothar, with the top two being answered in front of the audience and awarded with signed Castrol football shirts.
Guests were then invited to meet Lothar personally, and have photographs taken and autographs signed.
Herr Heiner Reumann of Marlow Navigation Co. said: "The evening was excellent. I had a great time and hearing Lothar Matthäus’ experiences after dinner was very interesting. Castrol Marine paid impressive attention to detail and the event really brought to life what Castrol has achieved by linking its business with football."
