The SPC France (Shortsea Promotion Centre) is an association gathering state organization, professional organization, and transport companies of all sectors: shippers, freight forwarder, road hauler, ports, shipowners and maritime agents.
It is a forum for networking and support to initiatives promoting shortsea shipping and intermodal logistics. Its main activity is providing easy access to information via its website and blog updated daily, a weekly newsletter and a monthly “flash info”, a theme-based and summary data sheets, etc. The SPC France also organizes with its members meetings, workshops and conferences. On intermodality, SPC France activity is also identification of freight that can be switched from road to a logistics system with a sea leg, involvement in feasibility studies (economy, bottlenecks and good practice), etc. Furthermore, the SPC France accompanies its members while pretending to national and European funding. To enhance this mission, SPC France is the French representative for the European program Marco Polo II.
